ICGAI is a collaborative initiative directed at establishing an agile and comprehensive governance framework for AI.
🗓 2nd virtual event: April 13, 2021
Two ways AI technology is like Nuclear technology

A new blogpost in honour of the forthcoming EU draft legislation, and for @GPAI_PMIA & @ICGAI2021 too.
tl;dr No amount of #AI4Good replaces good #AIRegulation (but it's quite short so maybe read it)
Enjoy the discussion from yesterday. Identifying who is of course really essential, while a step forward is really how to welcome everyone on board, and urge them to take their corresponding responsibilities.
Corporations' stockholders obligations are not met instantaneously! Even if co.s cared only about shareprice (which is false) sustainability not only in climate but society~=governance generally matters – higher expected overall payout the longer the world's here. @ICGAI2021
@ICGAI2021 I've found (in far more limited experience than @maria_axente, who's speaking now) that C suites care about AI as soon as they find out it might be the same scale liability as cybersecurity! ;-) #aiethics

We need to weave all the means of power together to use them to hold each other to account. But governments are by definition the means by which we enforce law, so we need to find and maintain accountability in our governments, not just ignore or undermine them. @ICGAI2021 2/2
One @ICGAI2021 speaker says we can't rely on governments because they are captured by commerce eg GAFAM. IMO we need robust, diverse ways to hold governments to account, but I don't think we can just abandon government to corporations & corruption. 1/2
#digitalGovernance is part of the solution to climate change & sustainability, in that getting on top of those even harder problems requires first getting on top of the communication, misinformation, coordination &c. problems that AI & digital tech fundamentally alter.
@ICGAI2021
It would be super useful if @ICGAI2021 put the speakers' names up on the zoom. The present one's advising what is already largely true–she wants us to start from the UNHR, this has already been signed up to by 50 nations through the OECD / G20 principles of AI, it's the 1st of 5.
Is there a #tag for @ICGAI2021? The chat thing on the zoom is only for the panelists. I totally agree with the first intervention, we need to leverage the lessons learnt with IPCC because we do not have 30 more years to deal with climate change (we didn't really 30 years ago)
Of course, in the context of this @ICGAI2021 session (inclusion) we should be talking about how to get the other 80 nations integrated into a common principles framework. #aiethics
[1/2] Please join us tomorrow at 9:00AM ET for the second session of the @ICGAI2021 online speaker series on "Meaningful Inclusivity in Governing the AI Revolution." We hope to see you there!
