On the eve of their First Holy Communion, eighteen children at St. Patrick’s Oratory (#ICKSP's apostolate in Green Bay, WI) gather for a spiritual retreat with Canon Antoine Boucheron, Rector. They visit the sacristy, learn about the sacred vessels and the Holy Mass, practice receiving an unconsecrated host, and reflect on their First Confessions and what it means to receive Jesus.

Through the children’s candid answers and Canon’s sermon, A Little Living Tabernacle explores the Catholic faith in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist — and the responsibility entrusted to parents as the first teachers of the Faith.

In the spirit of one of our patrons, St. Benedict, the olive harvest at St. Phillip Neri Seminary in Gricigliano, helps to form priests today for tomorrow's spiritual harvest of souls. With over 100 Seminarians from several countries, such teamwork when working the olive harvest, allows the young men to come closer together as brothers in the same family, while developing a healthy work ethic based upon the common good.

“In the Gospel today, we heard Saint Luke’s account of Jesus sending 72 disciples on mission. Among the instructions He gave them was to cure the sick in the towns they visited. This is also your mission – a holy mission. Your profession is more than ordinary work. You are called to be instruments of God’s healing love. You are called to be witnesses to the sanctity of life. In all you say and do, you are to affirm the life and dignity of your patients, including the tiny infants in the womb of their mothers as well as the frail elderly patients approaching the end of their earthly life.”

O Divine Infant Jesus, I have recourse to Thee. Please, through Thy Blessed Mother, assist me with this necessity (Give Him your intentions). Because I firmly believe that Thy divinity can help me, I hope with confidence to obtain Thy holy grace. I love Thee with all my heart and with all the strength of my soul. I repent sincerely of my sins, and I beg Thee, O good Jesus, to grant me the strength to triumph over them. I resolve nevermore to offend Thee, and I come to offer myself to Thee with the intention of enduring everything rather than to displease Thee. Henceforth, I desire to serve Thee with fidelity, and for the love of Thee, O Divine Infant, I will love my neighbor as myself. All-powerful Infant, O Jesus, I implore Thee again: assist me with this need. Pilgrimage for Vocations, Part 2

On Saturday, October 10, the Institute of Christ the King and more than 600 people embarked on the annual Pilgrimage for Vocations in Lisieux, France🇫🇷, and prayed to Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, asking her to intercede on their behalf and obtain from Heaven an abundance of holy priestly and religious vocations.

During the consecration of St. Francis de Sales Oratory in Sulphur, LA, the relic of the martyr St. Théophane Venard was carried by four canons of the Institute of Christ the King in a reverent procession to the church where it was inserted and sealed into the altar stone by His Excellency Bishop Glen John Provost, Bishop of Lake Charles.

St. Theophane Vénard (1829–1861) was a French Catholic missionary priest and martyr for the Paris Foreign Missions Society, and was beheaded in Tonkin, Vietnam for refusing to renounce his faith. He is particularly renowned for inspiring St. Therese of Lisieux, who frequently referred to him as her "dear brother" and drew spiritual strength from his joyful acceptance of martyrdom and his consoling letters written from prison. His feast day is celebrated on November 6.

On Monday, October 12, His Excellency Bishop Glen John Provost, Bishop of Lake Charles, solemnly consecrated the Oratory of St. Francis de Sales in Sulphur, Louisiana.

This historic ceremony marked the first church consecration in the American Province of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest in eighteen years, following those of St. Mary’s Oratory in Wausau, Wisconsin @MaryOratory, in 2003, and Old St. Patrick Oratory in Kansas City, Missouri @OldStPatsKC, in 2008. The ancient rites included the lustration of the church, the tracing of the Greek and Latin alphabets, the translation and deposition of relics beneath the altar, and the anointing of the twelve consecration crosses, culminating in a Solemn Mass celebrated by Msgr. Schmitz, Vicar General, in the presence of His Excellency.

Through this solemn consecration, the Oratory was set apart as a sacred dwelling of God and a precious gate of Heaven on earth. Deo gratias!
