#ICPVR2019 panelist wishlist for #vivax: effective G6PD test, consolidated evidence on radical cure for all malaria in coendemic areas, sharing of meaningful answers to difficult questions, a vaccine(!), new tools, good numbers on the pediatric burden, defined private sector role
Serological test and treat seems like a good alternative to MDA and MSAT by identifying recent #vivax exposure, particularly in low transmission settings. Great work by Javier Rosado and the @institutpasteur team at #ICPVR2019.
@malariaatlas alumnus and @MenziesResearch PhD student @danpfef presenting his @ICPVR2019 poster on assay-based variability in G6PD spectophometry. Also check out https://t.co/cwaaf9u2Yv for Dan's ongoing collaboration with MAP to update global maps of G6PD deficiency!
Lovely quote from Pete Zimmerman during his talk at #ICPVR2019 summarizes the lot of us vivax researchers who undertake field research: "We have bumpy roads -- like all the rest of you"!
For a summary of the talks from day 2 of @ICPVR2019, which focused on Plasmodium vivax hypnozoites, invasion, vaccines and immunity, go to: https://t.co/6jeze1tTUz #malaria#vivax
Kudos to all #ICPVR2019 participants still going strong for the final day in the Parisian heat. Huge amount of exciting progress in vivax research being shared.
