Nigeria's clean energy future just got a major push forward
This week, the Director General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh @JOBSON_EWALEFOH, welcomed the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG), Barr. Ismaeel Ahmed @IsmaeelAhmedB, and his team for a high-level courtesy visit — and the outcome is promising.
Pi-CNG is on a mission to attract local and international investment into Nigeria's gas mobility and electric vehicle space. And they've identified the right partner in ICRC @icrcng — the body responsible for regulating all Federal Government PPP arrangements.
Dr. Ewalefoh made one thing clear: ICRC is fully committed to supporting Nigeria's energy transition through smart, well-structured partnerships.
Here's what's happening next:
Both organisations have agreed to set up a six-member joint working committee — with a firm 21-day mandate to identify collaboration areas and develop real partnership models. Three members from each side. The clock is ticking.
This is how structured, purposeful partnerships that deliver real infrastructure to Nigerians begin.

Leading from the front isn't just a promise — it's a practice.
At the just concluded 2026 International Civil Service Conference (ICSC), Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh, Director General of the ICRC, arrived early and personally engaged Nigerians at the ICRC exhibition booth — answering questions, sparking conversations, and sharing his passion for how the Commission is unlocking private investment to put roads, power, airports and seaports in the hands of everyday Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The DG also featured in two panel sessions discussing infrastructure development and the role of the ICRC in delivering critical infrastructure to Nigerians through Public-Private Partnerships.
This is what leading from the front looks like. 🇳🇬
The event which was declared open by @officialABAT, represented by SGF @OfficialOSGF, had ministers and other high ranking government officials in attendance including Minister of Interior @BTOofficial
Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Minister Of Trade and Investment @fmitiofficial among others
First Lady @SenRemiTinubu
also attended the event.

The DG of ICRC, Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh @JOBSON_EWALEFOH, joined the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu @jidesanwoolu, the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola @aoyetola, Africa’s foremost industrialist, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and captains of industry/Ports Directors across Nigeria and West Africa at the Opening Ceremony of Nigeria’s hosting of the Board of Directors Meeting of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA) — held at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event, which ran from May 18–20, 2026, brought together over 350 international trade facilitators and indigenous industry leaders, and was officially declared open by the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy @MarineBlueNG.
At the event, Dangote’s Message Was Clear:
Africa’s port costs are too high. The continent needs more ports. And he is personally committed to championing the expansion of the Lekki Free Trade Zone and what could become the deepest and largest port infrastructure ecosystem in Africa — a development capable of transforming maritime trade across the continent.
Why This Matters for ICRC:
ICRC @ICRCNG currently regulates the concession of the Lekki Deep Seaport @LekkiPort — the largest and deepest seaport in West Africa — alongside several other port infrastructure concessions across Nigeria at different stages of development and operation.
And if the next phase of expansion around the Lekki Free Trade Zone and associated port infrastructure is delivered through Public-Private Partnerships — as it should be — then the ICRC remains the institution already proven, positioned, and empowered under law to facilitate, structure, and safeguard such transformational PPP projects in Nigeria.
CEOs of @nigerianports and #NIMASA were also present.
ICRC, Arts Ministry Open Talks on Seven-Star Hotel, Arena, Others

Projects under consideration include:
🔹 7-Star Hotel Infrastructure
🔹 Modern Concert & Entertainment Arena
🔹 Revitalisation of National Museums
🔹 Netflix Collaboration for Film Production
🔹 Creative Industry Training & Development
ICRC DG, Dr. Jobson Ewalefoh, assured the Ministry of speedy regulatory support for viable projects, stressing that PPP reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have made Nigeria more investor-friendly.
Minister Hannatu Musawa @Fmactce_Nigeria said Nigeria’s tourism and creative economy sector could contribute up to $100bn to GDP by 2030 with the right infrastructure in place.

As part of efforts to further streamline PPP processes, the Director-General of @ICRCNG, Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh (@JOBSON_EWALEFOH), convened a strategic meeting of PPP experts, practitioners, legal luminaries, representatives of the Federal Ministry of Justice, and key Commission staff to harmonise the Model PPP Concession Agreement.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of a finalised and harmonised Model PPP Concession Agreement after a rigorous clause-by-clause review to ensure the document is legally robust, bankable, and free from unintended legal consequences.
As the penultimate gatekeeper in the PPP approval process, the ICRC undertakes critical reviews of concession agreements to safeguard public interest, ensure value for money, and prevent the inclusion of hidden clauses or provisions capable of creating contingent liabilities for the Federal Government, before final legal vetting by the Federal Ministry of Justice.
The stakeholders emerged with a harmonised document aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s PPP framework and boosting investor confidence.
@FedMinOfJustice
The Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (@ICRCNG), Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh (@JOBSON_EWALEFOH), joined ministers, permanent secretaries, key stakeholders in the power sector, and other Nigerians to honour and bid farewell to the former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu (@BayoAdelabu), as he bows out of office to pursue his ambition of becoming the Governor of Oyo State.
Speaking at the send-forth ceremony, the DG described the role of Nigeria’s Minister of Power as one of the most demanding and often underappreciated positions in government. He likened it to that of a goalkeeper who makes nine crucial saves but is blamed for conceding just one goal, while a striker who misses several chances but scores once is celebrated.
According to him, the analogy reflects the realities of Nigeria’s power sector, where enormous efforts and reforms are often overshadowed by the scale of the challenges confronting the industry. He noted that the sector still requires significant work, making it difficult for any minister, regardless of commitment or performance, to fully satisfy public expectations.
Dr. Ewalefoh commended Adelabu for his service to the nation and his contributions to the power sector, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.

MMA2 Impasse Resolved: Tinubu upholds sanctity of PPP Agreements, Restores Investor Confidence
ICRC DG, Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh, has commended President @officialABAT for firmly upholding the sanctity of PPP agreements in Nigeria through the resolution of the 20-year MMA2 concession dispute between @FAAN_Official and Bi-Courtney Aviation Services.
He also praised the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, @fkeyamo, for his leadership and pivotal role in achieving the breakthrough.
According to the DG, the President’s decisive intervention sends a strong signal that Nigeria, under the Federal Government, will respect legally binding agreements and protect investments within a stable PPP framework.
🔹 Nigeria upholds sanctity of contracts
🔹 Boosts investor confidence
🔹 Clears path for #LekkiAirport, others
🔹 Ends long-standing @FAAN_Official–Bi-Courtney dispute

PPP: Africa cannot be financed with borrowed templates. It needs its own model
. . . As Nigeria targets $2.3 trillion to bridge infrastructure gap
That was the clear message from Dr. Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh @JOBSON_EWALEFOH, DG of @icrcng, as he joined global financiers, donors, and key PPP stakeholders at the Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF) — a World Bank-backed platform for infrastructure financing — on the sidelines of the @IMFNews@WorldBankGroup Spring Meetings in Washington.
He warned that one-size-fits-all financing won’t work for Africa’s realities.
🔴 Africa cannot wait for slow processes and borrowed templates — it needs project development financing that works fast and works for its realities.
🟢 Global models ignore Africa’s unique political and economic context.
🔵 Long financing cycles delay urgently needed infrastructure.
🟡 Rigid frameworks weaken local ownership and project sustainability.
🟣 Flexible, faster, context-driven financing is critical.
🟠 Nigeria’s PPP ecosystem is undergoing key reforms under @officialABAT, with strong respect for contract sanctity — positioning the country as a key global PPP investment destination.
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s PPP push to close its $2.3tn infrastructure gap with bankable, transparent, investor-ready projects.

As the blessed month of Ramadan comes to a close, the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) wishes all Muslim faithful and Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr.
May this season of reflection and gratitude bring renewed hope, unity, and prosperity to our nation.
Eid Mubarak.
I had great conversations yesterday at the Houses of Parliament Westminster, London, for the UK–Nigeria Economic Corridor Leadership Dialogue on “Scaling Trading, Capital, and Industrial Partnerships for Shared Prosperity”.
This engagement, convened by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment in collaboration with the UK Department for Business and Trade and other key partners, reflects a shared commitment to moving beyond conversations into real, bankable opportunities that drive inclusive growth.
The ICRC with distinguished leaders like Hon. Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oluwole MFR, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Comptroller-General of Nigerian Customs Service, and Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, as well as global investors, business leaders, and members of the UK Parliament were present for this auspicious meeting.
The path forward for ICRC is clear. With the right partnerships, the right structures, and sustained collaboration, the Nigeria–UK economic corridor can become a powerful engine for growth, jobs, and long-term value creation.
