@UNoahevans I feel the same as you. I think twitter has been an invaluable resource and I would definitely use this when becoming a professional teacher
@ashleeprice912 This is a great response @ashleeprice912. I would like to think that all teachers would be able to see cultural diversity beyond the surface and instead into how it can affect more than just an individual.
Reflecting on what cultural diversity can look like in and beyond the classroom has shown how important it is to me both as a teacher and a member of the community. Creating a culture of being accepting of all cultures is only a tiny part of cultural diversity #UoNTeach
After 9 weeks looking into cultural diversity as an aspect of 21st century learning, I can firmly say that this is something that is essential in all Australian classrooms and will be something I aim to bring into my future classrooms. #UoNTeach
@jwood961 I totally agree @jwood961. I had no concept of just how diverse the class is. Yes it is definitely an extensive process. One that will no doubt take us time to implement into the everyday but each step helps.
It's not until learning about cultural diversity that you become fully aware of all the different opportunities to show inclusiveness to those students in your class from different backgrounds and cultures. #UoNTeach
After using Twitter to communicate with other educators in similar positions, I have a newfound appreciation for collaboration between teachers beyond the scope of my local area. This form of communication has the ability to showcase the strength of a global community #UoNTeach
Looking to the future I can take what I have learned from looking into the concepts of cultural diversity and use these ideas to be a positive influence in this area to my colleagues and students. #UoNTeach
Reflecting on cultural diversity in the classroom, I decided to look back at my schooling and think when I was most exposed to this idea. I would say that I have vivid memories of a few assignments in one year but not many other than that. What were your experiences? #UoNTeach
21st Century classrooms need to be using global perspectives when teaching any topic or KLA. Communication and Critical thinking are only some of the benefits involved in this idea of teaching. https://t.co/EhsK0Yvg9O #UoNTeach
@UNoahevans That's great to hear that you learned another language in your schooling as you have experienced the other side as opposed to us as teachers.
Learning another language in primary school can be beneficial in this increasingly globalised world. Students become more open and receptive to other cultures through this. Have you taught any other languages in your classrooms? If so what languages and how did it go? #UoNTeach
@UNoahevans I saw a perfect example of this on my last prac when a local brass band came in and performed for the students. It provided the students with a unique opportunity that many students would have gone without if not the case.
@UNoahevans Collaboration is definitely one of the most important things I aim to include in my classrooms as it develops students interpersonal relationships and their ability to see learning from different perspectives.
