Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG) are a group of extremely rare metabolic disorders. People with CDG lack certain enzymes that are essential for the construction of glycoproteins in the body.

Despite their many challenges most people with CDG tend to be happy and outgoing individuals. All people with rare disorders have the same core needs we all have —- to be valued, loved and accepted.

💛 I have had two open heart surgeries.
💛 I had a cardiac ablation procedure this past summer
💛 But most importantly, I am a strong, happy, and healthy.

When @TheAmandaGorman read her poem, in her stunning YELLOW jacket, I was completely entranced by her words. “For there is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it. If only we're brave enough to be it” I thought of, Emily, who was always BRAVE enough to BE the LIGHT!
