Great news! @ModernizeCmte was widely recognized as one of most functional, bipartisan, and innovative in Congress, even doing a Deliberative Town Hall with IDEA and a rep sample of citizens on how to improve Congress. Hopeful the subcommittee will continue to make progress!
Today’s news that the modernization efforts of the 116th and 117th Congresses will continue in the form of a subcommittee in the 118th Congress is a win for the institution, the public servants who work there, and the people they serve.

Former KF resident Seth Odongo reflects on the important role deliberation can play in a political culture. Debate, he says, encourages winners and losers, but it does not always lead to understanding or working together. https://t.co/qlOWqB2fkR
Longtime collaborator and friend of IDEA @congressfdn's Brad Fitch cites Politics With the People, which documents the groundbreaking results of Deliberative Town Halls in his testimony today before @ModernizeCmte
It was an honor for IDEA's director @MichaelNeblo to testify before @ModernizeCmte on ways to make town halls and other forums more deliberative and representative.
Today the Modernization Committee held a roundtable discussion with experts on civic engagement to explore opportunities to make it easier for every American to engage with the Legislative Branch.
Civic engagement is not a privilege, it's a right for every American who wants to make a difference in their community.
The committee and its members will continue to work towards lowering barriers & expanding those opportunities for all Americans. #ModernizeCongress
“There’s so much more in common that we have than what divides us."
Cheryl Graeve, Program Director at the @NICDInstitute, is helping to launch America Talks – an online event where Americans are set up to talk with those with different backgrounds and beliefs.
Our very own @NicoleCurato talks about deliberative voting and calls for the agonistic friend-adversary dichotomy as antidote to cancel culture.
