Finland requires a masters degree to teach. They also pay them and respect them like professionals. And over 90% stay to retirement. Yep makes sense to me.
One of the most telling attributes of an effective leader is that they bring out the best in those they lead. They raise morale and confidence of their staff. Imagine what a staff can do when they feel valued.
We spend over $ 7 Billion dollars a year on teacher attrition (turnover) and probably more this year. Imagine if we spent the money on teacher retention instead.

Morale should always be a priority of every leader. When people feel valued, supported, appreciated, and that their strengths are being utilized, it improves engagement, job satisfaction, and overall sense of well being.
Watch your step, concrete ceiling just shattered.

Teachers who are passionate, on the ball, sometimes outspoken and have high expectations in the classroom. Effective leaders embrace these staff members who help create a dynamic high performing culture.

We have a teacher shortage because we have an attrition crisis. Teachers are leaving in droves because they don’t feel supported, valued, & they are simply burnt out. We have to do a better job of taking care of our teachers. Our students are depending on it!
Teachers, the first few weeks of school can be overwhelming. It's not unprofessional or weak to be tired/cry, feel like you are running on empty, or just plain teacher tired. It is unprofessional for you to ignore it. Take care of yourself because you are a professional!
