VIDEO | Delhi: On the Semicon 2.0 scheme, India Electronics Semiconductor Association (IESA) President Ashok Chandak says, "I see that this will have the effect of creating a freewheeling impact on the semiconductor sector, building from credibility to capability and then from capability to global leadership. Six pillars have already been outlined, and what we see is that these are reinforcing each other. For example, design is going to create the IP and the products. Then manufacturing, so the fabs and the OSATs, are going to create manufacturing excellence. Machines and materials are going to create the supply chain. Talent and skilling are going to create innovation. And all these things put together are going to scale up the overall semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, which will create a far more successful outcome for various companies, talent and other aspects... India could see 7–10 more chip plants in the next 5–7 years."
