History has been made, and Africa is celebrating.✨
” we are delighted to celebrate the legendary Angelique kidjo as the first African to receive a star on the Hollywood walk of fame" @obiasika
The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) proudly congratulates Angélique Kidjo on becoming the first African to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—a landmark achievement that honours not only an extraordinary artist, but also the enduring power of African culture.
For over four decades, Angélique Kidjo has carried the heartbeat of Africa to the world through her music, blending tradition with innovation and inspiring audiences across generations. A five-time Grammy Award winner, acclaimed singer, songwriter, performer and humanitarian, she has collaborated with some of the biggest names in global music while remaining deeply rooted in her African identity.
Beyond the stage, her impact is just as profound. As a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and founder of the Batonga Foundation, she has dedicated her voice to championing children's rights, girls' education and the empowerment of young women across Africa.
Her journey is a powerful reminder that African talent, creativity and culture know no boundaries.
Congratulations, Angélique Kidjo. Thank you for representing our continent with excellence, grace and pride. Your legacy continues to inspire a new generation of African creatives, and NCAC is proud to celebrate you as one of Africa's greatest cultural ambassadors.
