Our Technical Director Nacho Ferrer was a keynote speaker at the weekend's @IFCCA_Official on the Gold Coast.
He provided insights gained from his time at Real Madrid Academy and Brisbane Strikers to an attentive audience - including our own first team coach Owen Baker.
Really enjoyed being a small part of this.
Congrats to Ken Stead and @FootballQLD for putting this on.
An invaluable weekend of ideas and concepts for a stack of coaches which can only help the game.

"In Asia respect is everything. How you conduct yourself with officials, coaches and the hierarchy.
So take the time to learn the culture, the language and see the difference in how you are treated as a coach."

“When scouting you have to see them live, even talk to them.
Speak to them eye to eye. You need a clear picture of the player and that comes from 3 pillars:
✅ Databases
✅ Videos
✅ Live scouting”

“In Australia, maybe you need to realise that the competitive advantage of ‘working hard’ isn’t enough. Because everyone is working hard and has this mentality now. It’s not enough any more.”

"Tactical periodisation deals with complexity. It deals with chaos. It sees the player before the footballer. It worries about their mind more than their fitness."

"Children are not mini adults. We complain about them being silly and immature but that is what they are and what they are is important to their learning."
- Grant Downie, OBE
Delegates were able to take a lot away from @nachoferrerSC in his keynote presentation "Developing smarter players".
His concepts of using short passes to create space were of high relevance to delegates.

Absolutely loved this morning’s presentation at @IFCCA_Official by Brisbane Strikers’ TD @nachoferrerSC - especially on the concepts of using short passes to create space. Makes something quite complex really easy to teach and understand. Brilliant.
Great to be at the International Football Coaching Conference Australia @IFCCA_Official on the Gold Coast this weekend. Always important to continue to up-skill yourself as a coach with the added benefit of catching up with old and new football colleagues.
