Kenya's current economic crisis shouldn't be blamed entirely on President Ruto. In my view, it's the result of three major factors:
Uhuru Kenyatta's borrowing (2013–2022): Public debt rose from about KSh 1.8T to nearly KSh 8T, with significant commercial borrowing that increased
@moneyacademyKE If this materializes, it will help businesses. Businesses here in Kenya have been starved of financing which has been detrimental to the economy.

Kenya's public debt now 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝑲𝑺𝒉 12.98 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒏.
Per recent IMF analysis: while debt remains sustainable, Kenya is still at 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉 𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒅𝒆𝒃𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 driven by:
🔹 High cost of domestic borrowing
🔹 Exchange rate risks on external debt

Aliko Dangote is set to start construction of a Sh2.2 trillion oil refinery in Lamu before the end of 2026.
The proposed 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery is expected to complement the LAPSSET Corridor and Lamu Port.
@moneyacademyKE Kenya is an active crime scene. When we rid off the country corruption, Kenya would be a prosperous nation. Try to imagine what 220.4 million and 995 million would do if put to proper use.
Critics argue that governments eagerly adopt Keynesian spending during crashes, they almost universally ignore his advice during booms due to political pressures.
John Maynard Keynes is considered one of the most consequential economists of the 20th century. Most to all governments around the world use Keynesian economics to manage the economy.
Many critics have said that governments do not fully implement his ideas.
What governments around the world forget is that Keynes advocated for reducing government expenditure, raising taxes, raise interest rates, and use the extra tax revenue to pay down debt accumulated during the recession.
@moneyacademyKE I know the ksh10.4 billion will line some people's pocket. We remember the fertilizer which was a donation from Russia ended up being sold.
Sir, you have to look at the whole picture. What about the declining economic growth since you came to power? In 2024, the economy grew by 4.7% and 2025 4.6%. In addition to raiding people's pay slips. Also high youth unemployment.
@jimNjue_ These numbers are not true. There were 5,773,155 registered voters in those counties you have listed in 2022. Even after Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) drive for this year in 2026, the numbers are not anywhere near 8 million registered voters.
@jimNjue_ In 2022 Mt. kenya had about 5.8 million votes in about 10 counties. 2.9 million voted for Ruto out of the 3.9 million who turned out to vote. The turn out was about 67%.
Now in it is estimated there are 6.3 million in the Mt. Kenya. Stop the myth of having 8 million votes.
