Are you ready for our upcoming 3-DAY DEGEN & MEMECOIN TRADING CLASS? 👁️
We’re bringing you real knowledge, market experience, and strategies to help you navigate this market.
I once applied for a job, and we had discussed almost everything. The only thing left was payment.
They asked how much I wanted, I gave them my price, and we agreed.
I was happy because I thought I had secured a good deal. Later, I realized they had a much bigger budget for that role than what I asked for.
Imagine asking for $300 when the team was ready to pay $800.
I could have earned an extra $500 by negotiating better.
That experience taught me something I think everyone looking for a job needs to understand
𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲.
Before you apply for a job or start talking to a founder, research the project. Understand what they do, how established they are, and what you’ll be expected to handle. This helps you get an idea of what they might be willing to pay.
You should also know your rates before someone asks.
If you’re a content writer, know how much you charge for writing posts or handling content monthly. If you’re a community manager or growth marketer, have a clear idea of what your services cost.
You shouldn’t be figuring out your worth while talking to a potential employer.
Here’s something you can try the next time a founder asks, “How much do you charge?”
Ask them, “Do you have a budget allocated for this role?”
Let them tell you what they’re willing to pay before you mention a figure.
You might be preparing to ask for $300 monthly, only to discover that their budget is $800. If you had mentioned your price first, you might have accepted $300 without knowing there was room for more.
Of course, some founders will insist that you state your rate first. In that case, give them a fair price based on your skills, experience, and the work involved.
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲.
Let’s say a project offers you $500 monthly, but you believe the work is worth $800. Explain your rate and see if they’re willing to meet you somewhere in the middle.
They might offer $650, and you can decide if it works for you.
The point is to give yourself room to negotiate instead of accepting the first number because you’re afraid of losing the opportunity.
You also need to be realistic. You can’t charge $1,000 simply because you want more money. Your skills, workload, and the value you bring should support your price.
There’s one more thing I want you to understand.
If you’ve been applying for jobs for months, sending DMs to founders, and watching other people announce new roles while you’re still searching, I know how tempting it can be to accept any offer that comes your way.
You might need the money urgently, so when someone offers you $200, you accept even though you believe the work deserves $500.
Sometimes, taking that $200 might be the right decision for your situation. There’s no shame in that.
The problem starts when you’re so afraid of losing a job that you never even try to negotiate better pay.
Keep improving your skills, applying for other jobs, and building relationships. The more options you have, the easier it becomes to walk away from a deal that doesn’t work for you.

Before you agree to your next Web3 role, understand the work, know what you want to earn, and ask about the budget.
If you believe their offer is too low, negotiate.
You might not get everything you ask for, but you’ll never know what’s possible if you’re always too afraid to ask.
