⚾️IHSA history occurred on May 15 when Lake Forest Academy hosted Westmont in baseball.

The contest was officiated by Abby Boyd & Brenda Mendoza, in what is believed to be the first varsity baseball game in #IHSA history to feature two female umpires.

The CPS Baseball Hall of Fame honored its class of inductees on May 16 at Curtis Granderson Stadium.

The 2026 class included a trio of #IHSA Officials:
⚾️ Al Albert (49th season as an IHSA baseball umpire)
⚾️ Carl Lucas (31st season)
⚾️ Carl Redmond (28th season)

I covered hundreds of games this season and can’t remember more than one or two instances of iffy officiating.

They do a great job and take too much abuse. The state is lucky to have officials that take so much pride in what they do.

The #IHSA is sad to report that legendary IHSA official Dick Deitz has passed away at the age of 86.

Deitz was a five-sport official and one of seven @IHSAOfficials from Illinois to be inducted into the @NFHS_Org Hall of Fame.

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) is proud to announce its 2025-26 Officials of the Year in 22 IHSA sports. This year’s winners will be recognized during the 2026 IHSA Officials Conference, which will be held July 10-11 in Normal, Illinois.

As a part of the NFHS Coach of the Year program, the IHSA administrative staff annually honors 33 individuals as NFHS Coaches of the Year in their respective sports and activities.

The #IHSA was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Andre Morgan. He was an @IHSAOfficials in four sports, including being a State Final umpire in baseball.

Andre was also very active in the IHSA Wrestling community. Our condolences go out to all of his family and friends.
