Who is actually training physical AI—and what kind of work does it involve?
IIHS researcher Aditi Surie has been quoted in recent stories by Al Jazeera and France24 on India’s growing AI-training workforce.
Behind tasks such as teaching robots to fold a towel or slice a mango lies a complex process of capturing, assessing and qualifying data. This work demands not only physical precision, but also significant cognitive skill, judgement and attention.
The workforce itself is equally varied: from workers in factories and workshops to educated women undertaking data work from home, each entering the sector with different skills, constraints and bargaining positions.

The second Along the ARC panel asks how marginalised populations navigate the intersecting barriers of displacement, segregation, and spatial choice—and how these forces shape access to housing, belonging, and the possibility of making a home.
Carrying forward the spirit of IIHS’ annual research conference Urban ARC, this conversation brings questions of tenure, identity, mobility, and exclusion into dialogue with the changing geographies of home. The panel will be moderated by Ruchika Lall, Senior Consultant, IIHS Research.

City Scripts is delighted to invite you to the Bengaluru launch of Wild Capital, followed by a conversation with the author. An unforgettable journey through the hidden wildernesses of the bustling metropolis of Delhi.
The book explores the city over many days and nights, while tracing memories and the stories of extraordinary human lives, discovering centuries-old groves of trees and neglected rivers, mammal tracks and bird calls, words forgotten and then re-found.

The 11th edition of ASSURE’s immersive workshop, Designing High Performance Buildings (HPBs) for Net Zero, recently concluded in Nagpur.
The workshop brought together 74 built environment professionals for three days of hands-on exercises, guided sessions, and an HPB visit.
The return of participating organisations with larger teams—and the growing pan-India cohort of HPB practitioners—reflects a strong commitment towards sustainable building practices and energy-efficient design.
