Marathon did not kill Destiny. It seems to be the contrary.
Marathon is the only thing that can save Destiny right now, and it might be the only thing that can save Bungie.
I never quite understood this because despite the main trilogy being a lot of “hoorah let’s get them alien bastards!”. There’s a lot of obvious themes relating to religious fanaticism. The lore itself doesn’t even paint the UNSC in a good light either.
Unfortunately for millennial leftists who grew up with Halo, it’s one of the few media properties that the Right correctly reads as reactionary and belonging to them politically. It is, regrettably, kind of about this. It’s chudslop. Always has been.
Not to weigh in too much but I saw people in this app talk up and down about wanting black animated sitcoms again and now I’m seeing heat over kickstarter goals.
God forbid the creator try and do something for the people that have been supporting him the longest.
The replies to this tweet were one hell of a precursor lmao.
I really can't take any D2 fans seriously when they say they want Marathon to die because this exact scenario of a new game being made a priority and fans being mad about that has been happening for 30 years atp.
I know this tweet has been talked about to death but I do find it funny that this even had to be made as if conversations about homophobia in the black community hasn’t been happening for years. Just a thought, maybe OP was never in those spaces to begin with to even know!

@XBoot0InDeck I find it baffling that anyone can say that considering there’s enough documented cases of higher up management bleeding whatever life was left out of D2 with their boneheaded decisions. Marathon isn’t the problem here
It pisses me off even more when those same people choose to ignore the pete parson car collection sized elephant in the room and blame Marathon for the reason why D2 died as if the devs haven't been fighting tooth and nail to make the game better just to get denied at every turn
What does piss me off tho about D2 ending is that for the longest time we've been hearing the "Dead game" mean over and over again then the millisecond it ends now it's "Wow how could they do this Destiny had so much potential" Like holy shit yall niggas are fake as fuck.

For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.
As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.
Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to.
We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us.
From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.
The disposable black girlfriend is so rampant in media.
Let's smash this trope to dust.
