I can tell you your opinion is wrong, Jürgen.
‘The boy’ gave us unforgettable moments — that’s not in question. It’s precisely because of those moments that so many felt something deeper. But let’s not rewrite the story: he became who he is because of Liverpool — the faith, the platform, the people.
Running down his contract wasn’t just strategic — it was calculated. It allowed a club that’s beaten us in 2 CL finals to take one of our own for nothing. That’s not just business. That’s betrayal — of trust, of values, of what this club stands for.
You switched the telly off? Maybe that’s the difference. You see the individual. We see the institution — the shared standard, the collective sacrifice. Liverpool isn’t just about moments or talent. It’s about loyalty, legacy, and love returned. And when that’s broken, it matters.
No one is bigger than the club — not even you.
Imagine being at Anfield in the next game after a win like that, settling down with your fellow Reds as the players get on the pitch to face Aston Villa, crowd are roaring, the songs are belting out, the team are fired up and then….
… a little plane flies overhead saying the words “FSGOUT”
The cringey, utter embarrassment from the tiny, muppet corner of our fanbase coming into full view, totally alienating more of our international fans from the locals because they’ll know exactly who put that up.
I’m honestly just pissed off thinking about it. International fans like me already get bucketed into the “don’t know anything about the club” corner because we have so many fifa-fans/e-reds, but a stunt like that will only further divide us.
Anyway, I’ll stop ranting and pray that common sense prevails.
Knowing that these people won’t read this far down the post, I’ll still put my caveat here: You are more than welcome to protest online about something you believe in passionately, that’s your right. Just don’t ever think that your opinion is the truth, but everyone is entitled to a differing opinion.
What you absolutely can’t do is shove your opinions on someone else’s home, especially a sacred place like Anfield. That’s a special place, don’t abuse it because you’re angry behind a keyboard. You have absolutely no right to that.
Thanks for reading.
