Students are here to learn. No matter where they come from, once they enter the classroom, all opportunities should be available to each and every one. As teachers, it’s our job to understand the background dynamics so that they stay curious and enjoy learning. #tch204spring2020
@dr_s_bertrand A4: If that happens, Professors would have more time to develop a structured schedule that is clear and organized. Creating a ‘quality over quantity’ work load that can be accessible with minimal resources required, as we don’t all have everything available. #tch204spring2020
@miss_kass @dr_s_bertrand Some professors did not change their criteria, at all, for rubrics or assignments, which I believe is not fair. We are not receiving the same educational opportunity online, therefore should not be expected to perform the same as if we were in the classroom. #tch204spring2020
@SamanthaGrzani1 @dr_s_bertrand I think Zoom classrooms over 30 students are more difficult to maintain, maybe breaking out into smaller sessions would help the professor create effective communication if time allows.
@dr_s_bertrand A3: Personally, my professors have done a very good job being accommodating to the situation. Although group work can be tedious, it is still possible to work on these projects online. Some discussion boards can be too forced and create unauthentic conversation. #tch204spring2020
@dr_s_bertrand A2: Everyday feels the same. Two working parents, one college student feeling trapped at home. Losing my job was rough but daily walks are what I look forward to. I’ve set goals for myself despite the difficulty of staying motivated during this time.

@dr_s_bertrand A4: At this time, marginalized students might not have the opportunities or support that others do. As a teacher, I would provide take-home resources that are free and do not require adult supervision for the student. It’s crucial to use/know what we have, even if it’s not much.
@dr_s_bertrand A3 By taking extra time to build context and get to know the students, and where they come from, it will be more beneficial than spending extra time on lessons. Students are more engaged & excited when they feel connected to the teacher. #tch204spring2020
@dr_s_bertrand @chrisemdin A2: Coteaching is an essential tool for teachers to challenge each other to do better. Students can also be co-teachers and provide opportunities for the teacher to create better lessons and methods, as mentioned on page 88. By listening to students, they will be coteaching, too.
