Hundreds of people from across the state are heading to the Capitol this morning to support the POWER Act! Illinois needs guardrails to ensure data centers don’t increase our utility bills, pollute our air, or threaten our water. #StandUpToBigTech
Headed to Springfield this morning for #POWERActLobbyDay! 📣 I’m joining advocates from across IL to urge lawmakers to pass the POWER Act to hold data centers accountable and protect our water, power, and communities. @ilenviro@ILCleanJobs@PrairieRivers@cubillinois
"Legislation like the recent Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act will help build more solar, which means more opportunities for farmers to get involved in grazing. Bills like CRGA are lifelines for farmers who might be struggling to evolve." https://t.co/10VHCH0Faz
"By betting on efficiency, storage, long-term energy planning and the flexibility of the modern grid, CRGA offers a blueprint for how to keep the lights on and bills down." https://t.co/0n4sw7FoHJ
"State legislators helped make it all possible by passing laws with ambitious clean energy mandates and funding. Over the last three years, IL has funded chargers at over 575 locations, almost a third of which are up and running, according to a state map." https://t.co/AWuoo0ZlVo
Time is running out to hold data centers accountable. That's why all across Illinois, people are urging their legislators to pass the POWER Act to protect our water, energy, and ratepayers.
Tell your legislators to pass the POWER Act: https://t.co/ws3d9SMWO6
This morning in Joliet, community leaders, advocates, and state lawmakers demanded action from Illinois legislators following the approval of a nearly 800-acre data center.
Thank you to everyone who called on legislators to pass the POWER Act!
The POWER Act would establish nation-leading guardrails to ensure data centers pay their fair share, limit their pollution, and use our limited freshwater resources responsibly. Join us in Springfield to support the bill: https://t.co/FEq1OPqQSc
The problem is clear: data centers are increasing our utility bills, using massive amounts of water with no transparency, and making pollution worse in our communities. Join us on May 30 to fight for guardrails that put people first: https://t.co/FEq1OPqQSc
Big Tech is spending big money to stop us from holding data centers accountable. But legislators answer to their constituents. Let’s make sure they hear us on May 30: https://t.co/vJq1BCEOqa
Earlier this month, advocates from across Illinois urged lawmakers to pass the Wetlands Protection Act, the Polystyrene Foam Foodware Ban, and the POWER Act. Protecting our wetlands, reducing pollution, and holding data centers accountable can’t wait.
Happy Earth Day! Thank you to all of the advocates, legislators, and clean energy businesses who work tirelessly to make Illinois a leader in sustainability and climate action.
To celebrate, here are a few of our favorite photos from Environmental Lobby Day earlier this month!
