UPDATE: New State Guidance on Dyed Diesel Relief
The Illinois Department of Revenue has issued new guidance on temporary #dyed#diesel penalty relief for farming and agricultural purposes in Illinois. If you're planning to use dyed diesel in on-road vehicles, it's important to understand the requirements, especially what records you need to keep to qualify for penalty relief.
Read the latest guidance in the @FarmWeekNow article: https://t.co/bwYGBvqkdi and we'll continue to share updates as more information becomes available.
Every 4-H journey starts somewhere. As we wrap up National 4-H Week, we’re celebrating youth in agriculture and sharing advice from our YEA committee members for new 4-H’ers.
Thinking back to your own experience, what advice would you offer someone getting started? Tell us in the comments!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Following executive orders from President Trump and Governor Pritzker, temporary changes are in effect regarding dyed #diesel use for agricultural transportation.
Stay in touch with your county Farm Bureau and follow Illinois Farm Bureau. We’ll continue to share updates as additional guidance becomes available.
We are working with agricultural partners to identify practical solutions and urging state and federal officials to identify and provide meaningful solutions for farmers facing higher diesel prices.
For farmers, higher diesel prices hit TWICE: through the cost of operating equipment and transportation costs.
The added cost is real. Check out the graph below, highlighting information from @FarmBureau's Market Intel, to see what higher diesel prices are adding to the cost of harvest. 👇
Rain may be slowing things down in parts of Illinois this week, but across the state, we're getting into the fields and another #harvest season is underway.
Have you started #harvest26 yet? What are the conditions like near you? Drop your county below and let us know how things are looking in your area! 👋

Earlier this month, we caught up with John, a grain farmer in Clark County, as he prepared for harvest.
Like many farmers, he’s watching more than the crop. The cost of putting it in and getting it out continues to climb.
John gave us a look at some of his rising farm costs and shared how we've seen input prices increase 3–4x over the past 10 years.
What are fuel and other input prices looking like near you?
Harvest is about more than what's in the field. It's about who's coming home from it. As another harvest season begins, take a moment to put safety at the top of your checklist.
Harvest Safety Musts
✅Prep equipment early – Breakdowns are a stressful situation
✅Check all lights & markers – Be seen, stay safe
✅Slow down on public roads – It’s not just your life on the line
✅Get rest – Exhaustion leads to mistakes
✅Look up – Power lines and electrical hazards may be above. Stay alert
Grain Bin Safety – No Shortcuts
🚫Lock out & tag out ALL moving equipment
🚫Cover every floor opening
🚫NEVER enter a bin alone
✅Harness + lifeline = lifesaver
🚫Don’t “walk down” grain – it’s a trap
🚫Ditch loose clothing – it can catch in a heartbeat
The harvest is important, but your life, your family, and your future matter more.
Because the most important thing you bring home this harvest isn't the crop. It's YOU!

Join us in a big THANK YOU to our members who took time away from their farms and operations, careers, schools and families to come to Washington, D.C. and advocate for positive agricultural policy.
Their work doesn’t stop when they leave Washington. Be sure to check in with your county leaders, read their stories in @FarmWeekNow, listen to interviews on the RFD Radio Network and, of course, keep up with us on social media as these leaders return to their home counties and share what they learned and experienced in our nation’s capital.
