@pastel_willow That's twitter for you. Top comments are two outrageous reaches in opposite directions that have nothing to do with the original post lol
@UberFacts Circumcising babies without their consent. Especially given that every 'risk' associated with foreskin can be avoided by just washing yo dick.
@Lowco2525 It's all good, perspective is a difficult thing to grasp when online and the readers are always equally to blame for any miscommunication by simply jumping to conclusions. I only hope the hateful trolls aren't too bad right now given the viral nature of your original tweet.
@dvon_p Even worse, I worry this will send a message to victims that, unless their claims are 100% black and white, they aren't supported by this community...
@dvon_p I am happy he's going to therapy. I feel for him with everything he went through. I am upset with how it all unfolded. But to just welcome him back with open arms just sends a message to other abusers who are in a grey situation.
@dvon_p It's either seen as gay or, often times, seen as some kind of boast since male culture also has this weird competitive nature to it where ones worth is often measured in "sexual conquests".
It's dumb, but it's the culture that exists...
@dvon_p A lot of men put the entire onus of their emotional health onto the women in their lives which is, not only unfair, but exploitative. Unfortunately, for those with enough self awareness to not use their female friends as therapists, their emotional needs often go unaddressed.
@dvon_p This is incredibly unhealthy though because it causes us to bottle our emotional needs and creates a lack of emotional understanding that permeates straight male culture...
@dvon_p I think for some, the fear of being perceived as gay is enough to deter them from these topics. I've had people I consider close friends say that such topics are "uncomfortable". Beyond that though it's almost a faux pas in male culture to be emotionally close to one another.
@dvon_p tendency to only ever feel sexy or sexual in the context of pursuing or engaging in sexual relationships with a woman which means that, when this isn't happening, men tend to feel undesirable since they don't get that positive affirmation.
@dvon_p I am speaking from the experience of a straight man here but... Men lifting each other up and supporting each other in terms of sexuality / attractiveness. It sounds silly but male culture never supports or compliments each other in this way which means that men have a (1/2)
