I'm back on here. I initially took two weeks off to complete my college semester. Then I extended my time off by four more weeks to focus on the book I am writing. Then I took two more weeks off to farm. I needed the break. Everyone should take occasional social media breaks.
It's never set well with me that there is a Chicago neighborhood named Grant Park and like the third rural town south of the Chicago region is called Grant Park.
@_sn_n Now you know how Republicans felt in 2022. This cycle really is just a flipped 2022.
Although, Dems never had any real chance of winning the Senate in 2026.
@Arkypatriot We are already doing those things in the dark in the winter. Problem with the current system is we also return to that bus stop/commute in the dark. Let's try to fix it and give one trip in the daylight. Year round DST.
@jimscard We don't have that either way under ST because of how winter is. Go year round DST so we make the best of the situation and get a little bit of light after work.
@llwtydeer Mostly because they can only do it that way on their own and they want to erase a time change.
Also, for many parts of the country--such as mine--noon comes the furthest from noon during ST. In my part of the country it comes between 10:30 & 11.
@CenTexLib Don't lecture people. We know what we're getting into. I know I speak for myself when I say I want more daylight at the end of the day. It's dark when it's time to go to school/work either way in quite a bit of the year. May as well get to have some daylight at some point.
@DemzDeliver He should put this kind of energy into lowering taxes on rooms. Currently, to have a hotel room in the city you pay almost 6% above the normal sales tax rate.
I've really come around on the idea of expanding the House in the last 18-24 months. It would cost some money, I'll admit, but it would also fix a lot of the problems (such as the now infamous Massachusetts Gerrymander problem). The Half Wyoming Rule would probably work best.
@micah_erfan I wish the blue state of Illinois would do this. There are potholes everywhere here. Makes it worse since we are taxed to death to supposedly fix the problem. It will get worse come September after those taxes will no longer go to that cause. Democrats really do ruin things.
Since 1993, boomer presidents have presided over almost 27 trillion dollars in national debt, or 67.5% of all debt. Biden presided over almost 2/3 of the remaining US debt not added under a boomer president.
That's it. The "she's for they/them, Trump's for you" furthered the fallout, but these are the real reasons she did not connect with voters. These reasons made her, the Biden administration and the entire DNC appear untrustworthy and incompetent, and people voted accordingly.
I can do this DNC autopsy much simpler than they are. Here's what did Harris in:
-Biden dropping out, then anointing Harris
-Harris running a campaign that tried to appease everyone too much. When she brought Liz Cheney on stage to campaign for increased taxes, I knew it'd fail.
@BrianCostin@GovPritzker True. I was in MO & KY last week. I live about half way from Chicago to Memphis. Gas across the rivers was an average of 4.19. Gas here is in the 4.80s. Diesel is 5.89-5.99 most places here and the only $6+ diesel I've seen is in my county.
