@phantasyftw@WARDOGS A place to practice flying or testing new things. Or a preview of scopes before I unlock them and before buying them each round. Iโve bought the wrong scopes so many times
@DoodlingMonkey@DraleZero@Twitch@TwitchSupport kinda. viewcount wont count certain things, which is why I said it will always be skewed as these numbers dont represent the same thing. like chatbots, streamelements arent watching streams. they are only connected to chat. thereby 1 counter will count them, the other wont.
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport example of emongg, they cant ban him because they dont know if his doing it.
they can try to find the viewbotting accounts and ban them directly. but then theres 100k new accounts running the same software. they need to weave out the actual traffic, but thats a cat and mouse game
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport from the outside looking in it can appear such. but in a sea of computers designed to appear as normal viewers, this is a super difficult task. its not some "ban this ip" and the problem is gone. they use techniques like GoLogin and Floppydata to mask themselves
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport if you dont have the lower tier preventions for botting, the problem would have been easily 10x.
the new chatbot badge is not a direct identifier of a bot but rather a bot that has setup a specific thing. they actually come in 2 variants.
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport the view count, 10, is provided by twitch yes. but you do not know who is watching multiple people or just connected to chat. how many are just connected to chat not watching? how many bots? whos watching multiple streams or hot-swapping between streams? have the servers synced?
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport because they arent necessarily watching. this is my chatterino. Im not watching everyones streams at every given moment. but im connect to their chat. that would be false monetization if they started paying you based on people connected to chat. then you could just make chatbots
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport I'm not sure if by tool you now referred to botting services or not. they change behind the scenes all the time. part of the cat and mouse game you always gotta be playing
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport and theres cheaters in games with anti cheat. its not a simple toggle, and you have to start building from the ground up. limiting how many streams you can watch helps eliminate the basics of botting, then we start building more tools upon that without getting too technical.
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport thats not really a twitch problem alone. you are asking for magic. verifying millions of viewers every few seconds across servers doesnt happen instantly
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport that becomes a question about where can they reliably set a hard stop for count. they decided on 2, that stops a meaningful amount of lower tier botting. could definitely be higher, but they have to set the cap somewhere
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport they don't provide a viewers list. that's the whole point. the extension is based on people connected to chat (the community tab) that's why I sent the first article. these are two separate things https://t.co/li4WGFMKfN
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport No because Iโm on 4 streams.
If all 4 would accounted. Then what stops me from opening 100? Itโs one of their blockers to prevent botting. And ultimately that is also very important if any number is to have meaning. If everyone had 100k viewers, whatโs the point?
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport Thats why thereโs a second verification happening after streams and why you can see the dashboard update the numbers days after. The same happens everywhere with varying methods. Like YouTube used to lock at 301 viewers on videos until it required verifications to sync up
@woshi_t@DoodlingMonkey@Twitch@TwitchSupport But thats my original point. Those are people connected to chat, including bots, people with multiple streams open and hot swapping, chatterino. The extension pulls a count from that. So the numbers will always be skewed. Especially when factoring in how often that list updates
