Just heard that April Ashley has died aged 86.
She lived in Hay for several years, and was a friend of King Richard Booth.
She was one of the first British people to undergo sex re-assignment surgery, and was a campaigner for transgender rights.

One of the things about London Town i like is finding and knowing a lot of the welsh links with the city. There are a lot. Currently stuck on Talgarth road. Every single time it’s Talgarth road, as a @ILoveTheHay boy I think it’s personal. 😉

News today from home @ILoveTheHay will be losing its last bank as @Barclays leaves the town. Two cash points left for a vibrant rural community. Banks abandoning communities yet being feted elsewhere. They can’t have it both ways. Hope a radical bank steps in @StarlingBank ?

New entry to my favourite welsh places list. Llananno church took my breath away when I went in. Hidden gem. 15th c carved screen is simply awesome. Welsh history at its finest.
