Action item - write to the NPS and tell them to get cattle out of the wilderness (see link below)! We have documented cows trampling sequoia seedlings in numerous groves and it is a serious problem. Thank you @WildernessWatch for taking a stand.
For three years in a row, trespass cattle have been found deep within the Sequoia-Kings Canyon Wilderness.
Despite clear evidence and repeated reports, the National Park Service has yet to act.
Speak up to help keep this Wilderness wild!

Here's some levity for your Monday. 9 years ago, baby Sue & Kim frolicked through the redwoods and sequoias of CA and featured the footage in the "Treeline" video for our band @Folkstarmusic https://t.co/QwaSedmUwI
The ground is almost bare right now in the sequoia groves. Need a sequoia snow fix? Enjoy this snowshoeing video from Alder Creek Grove in 2022: https://t.co/DKDnTK19NP
HOLY COW! Cows are pulverizing millions of seedlings in the Giant Sequoia National Monument: https://t.co/XTx704wHec

TAKE ACTION!
The U.S. Forest Service has moved forward with a massive burning project for the Sequoia and Sierra National Forests in California that covers 2.4 million acres—including ALL 866,741 ACRES OF DESIGNATED WILDERNESS ON BOTH NATIONAL FORESTS!

Video of what was formerly a patch of sequoia seedlings, now bulldozed over in Black Mountain grove. The bare twigs sticking out of the ground used to be seedlings: https://t.co/nbFM5neOXn
Sequoia coalition (USFS, NPS, Save the Redwoods, CalFire, etc.) has been going on about how millions of seedlings are not enough, that they have to plant in many groves. So then why are loggers bulldozing seedlings and putting burn piles on top of them? https://t.co/xGGFqqum8e
We went to check on South Peyrone sequoia grove and wow were there a lot of seedlings! S. Peyrone is very difficult to get to, but watching our walkthrough video is easy: https://t.co/jeNGKW7Feu
This is what Forest Service and Save the Redwoods are passing off as "restoration." Keep this in mind whenever you vote for a measure that sets aside state or federal tax dollars for "forest restoration" or when you donate to a "restoration" project. https://t.co/N4fxuqKSFh
https://t.co/rnUvNebuMs's Sue Cag shared her experience watching the NPS intentionally burning the giant sequoia paradise that is Eden Creek Grove: https://t.co/KvJJbXctX8
“The largest logging projects I’ve ever seen are targeting the last, best remaining old growth trees left in the country,” said Chad Hanson, a forest ecologist and co-founder of the John Muir Project.
