A baby monkey who was abandoned by his mother and relied on a stuffed animal has finally found friends.

Punch, a six-month-old baby macaque from Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan, went viral for clinging to a cuddly orangutan toy for comfort.

Zookeepers say he’s now slowly building bonds with the other monkeys in the troop.

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer aged 33 and had his pancreas removed in 2001.
