Iâve never been to Congo.
My French isnât the best. I understand Lingala far better than I speak it.
So listening to Tiakolaâs WpointM felt weirdly personal.
Two Congolese kids from the diaspora, him raised in France, me raised in London, both carrying a country in ways that donât always look traditional.
Then add my cousin Gaetan executive producing the album and my friend Zaza at Sony being part of the project too. Yeah, this one is close to home.
Not really an album review.
More of a love letter to Congo, diaspora, language, family and the strange feeling of knowing exactly where youâre from, even when youâve never been there.
