“This is where it’s meant to be,” says Ashelee Rasmussen, describing seeing her art @IMNH208. “And there’s not a better place for it.”

Perfect for #FossilFriday: our paper on aDNA from mastodons from American Falls, #Idaho! This was my first foray into the Pleistocene: the lion's share of the @IMNH208 vertebrate paleontology collections. 🦣🦣🦣
So what's so special about Idaho mastodons?
@Dave_Hone@TM9380@zhejiang0pterus No, this is not a publicly-available file unfortunately. This is being tweaked as part of the preparations for our upcoming Dinosaurs from the Mountain exhibit on Idaho's Cretaceous. Suski is the stand-in base for our ID tyrannosauroid.
Last week, 8-12 year old students had the opportunity to get "hands-on" during our REAL STEM Open House held at the @IMNH208. Activities included a rock walk, learning to draw like a scientist, and exploring the augmented reality sandbox.
@jrossibarra@miwipe81 It is true! We've got leaves preserved in consolidant (injected into the rock before splitting) from the Clarkia beds that are still green on display currently. We definitely understand that the DNA data can be further analyzed, but the leaves are green!
Staff from the @BLMNational will be on-campus Thursday (12/8) to chat about career opportunities with the agency. They’ll be in Suite A of the Richard L. and Connie S. Bowen Rendezvous Center from noon to 1 p.m.

It’s been a whirlwind week for vert paleo: under the radar my first Masters student, Brenlee Shipps, published the main finding of her thesis. Organismal biologists can use the fine details of tooth shape to infer diet, but what about animals with no teeth? ❌🦷
Have an interesting methodology, fossil prep case-study, or new tool you're using in the field or lab? Then consider submitting an abstract to AMMP. The deadline is Tuesday Nov. 15! @AMMPaleo@burkemuseum

#FallFossilFest is still going on! We're here until 5pm, with @_gondwannabe_ talking fossil horses, @zhejiang0pterus demonstrating fossil egg properties, @ljkru diving into Idaho's #dinosaur record, and much more! Come by and see us today!
A pair of paleontology students in @_gondwannabe_'s lab are back on campus after their world-class research experiences.
