>A huge number of PLA soldiers are conscripts. They serve for only 2 years before being discharged, only a few serve longer or reach NCO ranks. Even NCOs don't (or didn't ) use to serve for more than 4-5 years.

>Provincial govts are required to provide requisite manpower via conscripts or volunteers.

>Lakhs including officers were discharged 2016 onwards as part of restructuring reforms. Happens regularly.

>All commanding officers have a Political Commissar of same rank double checking and reporting back on their every move.

>PLA has lateral entry for a number of posts.

>You need to be a CPC member to reach any meaningful rank. PLA is army of CPC, not China.

>Incompetent and corrupt officers routinely get fired, imprisoned or shot.

>Even their lowest serving foot soldiers have actual proper infantry kits and institutional support.

Whatever mythical or real respect Chinese military has comes with actual responsibility, performance and accountability. They have expanded their territories, put down insurgencies and increased Chinese hard power, not lost 1000s of sq km like ours and is dependent upon Russians, American, French and Israelis.

I am all for freedom of speech and respect for the sevice, but a few people here do need to have some censoring done.
