A student from Malaysia asked, "What holds young changemakers back most?"

I shared that the biggest obstacles are two-fold:
The fear inside yourself.
The fear in the older generation—that you will take their power.
Break through both. The future belongs to those who act with courage.

Human development must drive economic growth, not the other way around.

For Least Developed ountries, progress starts with tackling hunger through agtech and fair farmer prices, investing in healthcare, education and safety, decentralising power, protecting free expression, and respecting dissent.

Wealthy nations must match the benefits they derive from resources and labour with accountability on aid and climate finance.

Compassion and justice must replace extraction.

आज हम पूर्वी एशियाई देश तिमोर-लेस्ते की राजधानी दिल्ली पहुँचे। यहाँ आज से 'साइंस फॉर डेवलपमेंट समिट' आयोजित हो रहा है। अपने देश को भयानक हिंसा और कलह से निकालकर सौहार्द और शांति के रास्ते पर लाने वाले महामहिम राष्ट्रपति रामोस होर्ता स्वयं नोबेल पुरस्कार प्राप्तकर्ता और कई वर्षों से हमारे परिवार के मित्र हैं।

इस कार्यक्रम में विज्ञान विषयों के 16 अन्य नोबेल ��ौरिएट्स मौजूद हैं और प्रमुख अतिथि के तौर पर भूटान की राजकुमारी महामहिम सुश्री सोनम डेचन वांगचुक हैं।

राष्ट्रपति जी के निजी आवास में राजकुमारी जी, सुमेधा जी और उनके साथ अंतरंग बातचीत और भोजन के बाद उन्हें गणेश जी की संगमरमर की प्रतिमा भेंट की। इसे हमारे एक बाल मित्र गांव के पूर्व बाल सरपंच युवक ने स्वयं निर्मित की है।

I delivered the keynote at the UGM Annual Lecture, Nobel Laureate Series, at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
During the Q&A, a professor asked, “During our community work, it is difficult to connect and engage with people. What should we do?”
I told him: before you enter a community, leave your baggage at home.
Leave behind your degrees, positions, expertise, jargon, language, and even the logic of your urban life.
If you enter as a giver, preacher, teacher, guide or instructor, it will always be difficult to truly connect.
But when you see them as your own, and feel that you are one of them, everything changes.
That is where trust and partnership begins. That is where compassion comes alive, and where compassion transforms communities.

Technology is not neutral, and neither are algorithms. Every system carries the assumptions, priorities, and values of the people who create it. Because AI was trained on humanity’s accumulated knowledge, it has absorbed humanity’s accumulated prejudices, inequalities, and historical injustices.
