The Icelandic National League of North America supports ties between Iceland and its heritage in North America as well as followers of Icelandic issues.
On October 21 1875, a large group of Icelanders reached the shores of Lake Winnipeg near Gimli Manitoba. Every year, the New Iceland Heritage Museum hosts the “Walk to the Rock” to honour the original settlers that came on that stormy October day.
