GOOD NEWS IS OUT! The District Court of Southern Indiana has halted the Houston South Project with a Stop Work Order, ruling that the Forest Service failed to take a hard look at the environmental impacts to Lake Monroe, which provides water to hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers!
"When you see how many residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park or green space out of the top 100 most populous cities in the U.S.A., [Indianapolis is] very, very far down that list" - Jonathan Munro of IFA Board of Directors

Thank you to former IFA Executive Director Jeff Stant, Monroe County Commissioner Julie Thomas and all the volunteers who have helped us in our fight against the disastrous Houston South project in HNF.

While we are happy to see the Buffalo Springs project "paused" this still means that USFS could move forward with this project at any point. We continue to call on the USFS to permanently halt this project.
I am grateful the US Forest Service has agreed to pause the Buffalo Springs Restoration Project in the Hoosier National Forest. @realDonaldTrump, @SecRollins, and Acting US Forest Service Chief Schultz are demonstrating a willingness to consider critical feedback from the locals that the Biden Administration refused to do and that is another refreshing change in Washington, DC. The area is treasured by Hoosiers and recreationists and has much to offer.
Dendrons in urban forests are one of the most incredible features in our city. Click the link below to read the latest IndyStar op-ed from IFA board member Jonathan Munro and learn more:
