Charles Dickens' book A Christmas Carol was published 181 years ago on this day in 1843. Initially there were 6,000 copies printed, which reportedly sold out by Christmas Eve! It has never been out of print since. Explore our copies at FICTION DIC on Level 4. #AdventCalendar

The IOE Library closes for the winter break on Friday 20 December at 5pm and reopens on Thursday 2 January at 8.30am. If you are looking for somewhere to study between these times, the Student Centre remains open 24 hours a day throughout the holidays, including Christmas Day.
