Tackling child labour means looking where risks are highest, including in the informal economy.
For employers, this means being part of the solution: supporting clear workplace policies, fair recruitment, age verification, stronger supply chains, and prevention-first systems that keep children in school.
Listen to Ronald Ramlogan, CEO of the Employers Consultative Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ECA), explain how child labour takes form in his country and why employers have a role to play in putting an end to it.

At the 114th International Labour Conference, Employers, Governments and Workers adopted a resolution on the ILOโs transformative agenda for gender equality in the world of work.
This is an important outcome.
The resolution reflects the scale of the challenge: advancing equal opportunities, addressing barriers to womenโs full and equal participation in the labour market, and promoting workplaces free from discrimination, violence and harassment.
For Employers, this agenda matters because inclusive workplaces help businesses attract and retain talent, support career progression, and respond to todayโs labour market realities.
Employers are committed to supporting the ILC outcome and advancing the gender equality agenda.

โThese negotiations have been incredibly tough, but we are excited that we have reached consensus on this principles-based instrument.โ
Listen to @Ewa_Staw, Employersโ Group Spokesperson for the Standard-Setting Committee on Decent Work in the Platform Economy, explain how the three constituents of the ILO navigated complex negotiations to reach a balanced outcome.
The result is a principles-based instrument that provides Member States with the flexibility needed to regulate the platform economy according to their national circumstances, while promoting decent work.
A significant milestone in shaping the future of work through social dialogue and tripartite consensus.

๐ฌ โFor IOE, this is not a new agenda.โ
Speaking at the launch of the Global Alliance for Human Rights, IOE Secretary-General Roberto Suรกrez Santos reaffirmed employersโ longstanding commitment to advancing human rights through the world of work. During the high-level panel convened by the Office of the @UNHumanRights Commissioner, he highlighted IOEโs role in shaping and supporting the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. IOE today represents more than 150 national employersโ organisations and around 50 million companies worldwide.
โก๏ธ The Secretary-General identified three key gaps that continue to challenge progress:
1๏ธโฃ The gap between commitments and implementation, particularly for SMEs and companies across supply chains.
2๏ธโฃ The gap in coherence as businesses navigate an increasingly fragmented landscape of regulations and reporting requirements.
3๏ธโฃ The gap in capacity, where effective human rights due diligence depends on an enabling environment for sustainable enterprises with strong institutions, governance and social dialogue.
The business message is clear: the biggest challenge is not ambition, but implementation capacity. Turning principles into practical action remains essential to delivering real impact.

From 8 a.m. to long past midnight, the work of the Employersโ Committees at the International Labour Conference 2026 is both demanding and unrelenting.
These extended hours reflect the intensity of the negotiations and the importance of the issues on the table.
Delegates work through complex and often highly sensitive topics, including gender equality, strengthening social dialogue, and the evolving realities of platform work and the digital economy.
Across long days and even longer nights, the Committees engage in detailed discussions, drafting positions and seeking common ground in an effort to ensure that employer perspectives are clearly and constructively represented in global labour standards.

โI feel honoured to have been selected this year โ particularly as the Committee celebrates its centenary โ to represent the Employersโ voice and contribute to the work of this unique tripartite body,โ says @KaizerMoyane, Board Member of @BusinessUnitySA.
The Committee n the Application of Standards (CAS), the International Labour Organizationโs key supervisory body responsible for reviewing how countries apply international labour conventions, is marking 100 years of work overseeing the implementation of international labour standards โ a milestone that Employers say reflects the enduring value of social dialogue within the International Labour Organization system.
Employers have welcomed the anniversary as an opportunity to recognise the Committeeโs longstanding role in helping governments strengthen the application of ILO Conventions.
For business representatives, the Committee remains a key platform for advancing tripartite dialogue and creating a better world of work for employers and workers.
