EFF provincial secretary Vukani Ndlovu said the party was awaiting the final 2% of results before assessing its performance and determining its next steps at provincial and municipal level.

He said it was too early to begin coalition discussions, adding that the final results would provide a clearer picture of the political landscape and help guide the party’s decisions.

KwaZulu-Natal Electoral Officer Ntombifuthi Masinga says the IEC has captured all 14,245 results slips across the province, with no further counting or recounting required.

However, 25 results are still awaiting auditing, while 87 outstanding exceptions must be resolved – 79 in eThekwini and eight in Pietermaritzburg. One results slip has also been returned for reconciliation after the IEC system detected anomalies in the figures.

Masinga said 446 Section 65 objections had been lodged nationally, with two upheld and eight withdrawn. Only two objections originated in KwaZulu-Natal, both in Pietermaritzburg, and remain under investigation.
