Congratulations to all our athletes and a special mention to the team management and support staff @IOMCGA. You have all been an absolute credit to yourselves and the Isle of Man @Birminghamcwg22. You can all be very proud of your performances just as the 🇮🇲 is very proud of you.
15:39.54 and 16th place for Sarah Astin. 16:13.23 and 19th place for Rachael Franklin. What an opportunity to have 2 Manx athletes competing in the 5000m final at a major games 🇮🇲🇮🇲
Rachael Franklin and Sarah Astin are off in the Women’s 5000m at the Alexander Stadium 🔥 Joe Harris also in the centre field starting his javelin contest 🇮🇲
The men’s road race was lead home by Ben Swift in 15th position. The whole team were active throughout, with different riders getting in the various breakaway groups. Eventually the race had settled and it was a case of working with what you have 🙌🏼 Well done lads 🇮🇲
Ben Swift has been distanced from the front group as they really begin to light it up with 1 lap to go... Bostock also made the decision to pull in with 3 laps to go. The rest of our riders are sat in the peloton who have slowed down as most nations are now represented ahead.
Update: Ben swift has made the large breakaway of around 15 riders with 2m30s back to the peloton. Matt Bostock is in a small chase group inbetween with the rest of the riders comfortably in the peloton. Great to see us well represented throughout the dynamic race 🇮🇲🙌🏼
No podium for the @IOMCGA on this occasion as Australia dominate the race. @lizzie_holden leads the Manxies over the line in 19th place, with Jess Carridge 22nd and @becky_storrie 26th. An impressive effort against some of cycling's powerhouse nations 🇮🇲🇮🇲
Last lap. Around 23 minutes of racing left to go. It looks likely this will come down to a Sprint face with Australia police in the front of the bunch!
A strong break of 5, well represented by the dominant nations looked to set to stay clear but was pulled back before the gap got too big, in part, by the Isle of Man. These girls are hunting for a medal here 👊🏼🇮🇲
Lizzie Holden riding super active at the front of the race with 55KM to go. The riders are strung out into one line but unfortunately the ‘elastic is yet to snap’ 💥
Just over 60Km to go in the Women’s Road Race and we still have Anna, Becky, Lizzie and Jess active in the main group of riders. Unfortunately Amelia Sharp has retired from the race. Watch the action unfold live on the BBC 🇮🇲
