At a time when ocean temperatures are smashing records and scientists are still trying to understand how fast the system is shifting under climate change, they are talking about scrapping a 368 million dollar early warning network that has ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR by tax payers.
This is not just a few sensors in the sea. It is a network of ~900 instruments measuring temperature, currents, carbon, chemistry and ecosystem change. It was designed to deliver long term data over decades.
This would effectively end key long running records and that matters because ocean data only becomes powerful over time. You cannot rebuild a continuous climate record once it is interrupted.
Now that Gaza lies in ruins—shattered, like a beloved face after a long brutality—Israel moves with a terrible confidence to the next act: The act of leaving every soul there not merely wounded, but permanently disabled. Injured, sick, hungry, homeless, without work, without hope. This is not war’s collateral damage. This is design.
As my friend Gideon Levy writes—and he knows, he knows—this is the prelude to expulsion. Think of it: a society without teachers, without doctors, without social workers, without engineers, without clerks. That is not a society. That is a holding pen. A slow erasure. And when nothing functions—no school, no hospital, no office, no heart—then it becomes ‘easy,’ they tell themselves, to scatter the people to the four corners of the earth. Like seeds from a broken pod, except no soil will take them.
We must name this. Not with rage alone, though rage is honest. But with the cold, clear tears of recognition: they are making life impossible so that departure becomes the only ‘choice.’ And the world watches, adjusts its spectacles, and calls for restraint. Restraint! There is no restraint in a slow drowning.
Invasive species are doing huge damage to our continent's incredible biodiversity. Cats alone kill over two billion reptiles, birds and mammals per year. Add in foxes, cane toads, carp and other invasives, and native species are under massive pressure.
We have the resources and tools to protect native species - all that's missing is political will and investment.

Literally less than 1% of Victoria’s grasslands remain and now they want to finish the unique animals and plants off for bloody AI ! 🤬🤬
Prominent journalist Antony Loewenstein exposes a massive false flag operation in Australia.
He confirms the individuals arrested for arson attacks on synagogues were not anti-Semitic at all. They were literally petty criminals paid by shadowy groups to stage hate crimes.
Oceans can help fight climate change — if fisheries are part of the plan.
That’s the message from UBC researchers in a new Science letter. 🌊 #Decarbonization

London Underground station flooding has reportedly been reduced by around 90% thanks to a group of engineers: beavers.
After conservationists reintroduced a family of beavers into a nearby city park, the animals built dams and restored wetlands that now absorb and slow floodwater naturally.
Authorities had planned major man-made flood infrastructure, but the beavers effectively created their own system — while also boosting biodiversity and restoring the ecosystem around them.

Watching these interviews with @Dandhy_Laksono, it makes me wonder: Do everyday Australians contribute to massive deforestation and human rights violations in West Papua simply by purchasing sugar for their kitchens?
Australians should start asking this question.

Wish I had this for last week during a Pasture Regeneration course, a farmer looked at me quizzically when I mentioned climate change affecting decisions - saying - “But extra CO2 is good for plants “
If you’re looking for a response to the folks who say that more Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere is “good for plants,” feel free to share this GIFT ARTICLE. Increased CO2 negatively impacts nutritional value of the foods we grow. https://t.co/Z2hFJ42Rtb
Mum of Aus Doctor Bianca Webb-Pullman detained by Israel for attempting to deliver aid to Gaza on flotilla blasts “Albo & Wong” calling on them to “roll up your sleeves” & intervene to ensure the “unobstructed & continued passage to Gaza of my daughter & all who are with her”🔥
Big news! China’s CO2 emissions declined last year, while India’s did not increase, reports the International Energy Agency. So much for the endlessly trotted-out argument that we should not go for net zero because they are doing nothing. https://t.co/dspybpoeJa
Excellent must-read by @GeorgeMonbiot on the dodgy, but widely-accepted, #economics that is leading us to rapidly approaching #climate disaster.

''I also call on actors within the international community, particularly the Pacific, to do more to pressure Indonesia to open West Papua to the eyes of the world. The demand for a UN visit is needed, but what further action will you take, now Indonesia has made it clear they have no intention of facilitating such a visit? Will you refuse to deal with Indonesia, to trade with them or sign bilateral agreements, until the UN is allowed access? Will the MSG expel Indonesia for murdering Melanesians? I call for real action: action that Indonesia cannot ignore. While the world delays, West Papuans die.' @MsgSecretariat@MsgSecretariat@UNHumanRights@UN

IMAS scientists from the GSRRP have wrapped up annual marine park monitoring across 29 sites in Tasmania. Now in its 34th year, data adds to one of the longest-running reef biodiversity datasets in the world. A standout this year was the sighting of three rare red velvet fishes.
