Have you seen aphid mummies and wondered "what's going on inside?" Here's a pea aphid that has been mummified (dried/swollen) by the braconid parasitoid Aphidius ervi, right next to its unsuspecting compatriot. The chunky wasp larvae is moving inside the remaining aphid "husk."

Aphids are successful little buggers. Asexual reproduction where they produce little tiny clones of themselves can lead to rapidly ballooning populations with the right conditions.

Pea aphid giving birth on alfalfa. Watch all the way for the zoom, and it is sped up of course.
