#100DaysMission#Ebola#Bundibugyo
🚨 The #100DaysMission clock for Ebola starts now.
On 17 May 2026, the World Health Organization declared the #Ebola outbreak caused by Bundibugyo virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).

This PHEIC declaration, coming on the eve of the 79th World Health Assembly (#WHA79) in Geneva, is a stark reminder that pandemic preparedness must remain at the centre of global health policy.

2026 must be the year we move from ambition to action on pandemic preparedness.

Today is #WorldHealthDay, and this year's theme, "Together for health. Stand with science", gets to the heart of why CEPI exists.
Science is our greatest tool against epidemic and pandemic threats, but science alone isn't enough. It requires global collaboration to ensure that the fruits of scientific innovation reach everyone, everywhere.
That’s why CEPI is working with partners worldwide to strengthen the capabilities needed to respond faster and more equitably, from advancing vaccine R&D to boosting global manufacturing, regulatory, and clinical trial readiness.
And at the centre of this effort is CEPI's 100 Days Mission: a goal to develop safe, effective vaccines within 100 days of identifying a new threat. CEPI 3.0 will now turn this ambition into an operational reality, and doing so requires that exact combination – science and collaboration.
Together, these powerful drivers will help to secure the future against the threat of epidemics and pandemics.

IPPS congratulates @CEPIvaccines on the launch of their 3.0 Investment Case and Strategy today.
CEPI 3.0 will systematically reduce the likelihood, impact & cost of epidemics and pandemics by driving the #100DaysMission (100DM) for vaccines towards an operational reality.

@Mburu_Health The recently published 100DM 5th Implementation Report highlighted the continued need for vaccine investment, and to maintain engagement with vaccine partners to leverage synergies and ensure alignment across diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines.

Honoured to be included in the 2026 @TIME 100 Health List. This recognition reflects the commitment of NRAs and RECs working to build a strong continental regulatory framework for safe, quality, and efficacious medicines across the continent.

Last week in Paris, our CEO Dr @IfedayoTiffy joined global health leaders at the launch of the 5th @IPPSecretariat Annual Report to discuss progress on the 100 Days Mission.
On the sidelines of the launch, he highlighted critical gaps in global preparedness: diagnostics remain the least funded pillar of outbreak response — despite being the foundation of effective action.
Achieving the 100 Days Mission for diagnostics is possible, but only if we invest now in innovative R&D, flexible platform technologies, local manufacturing, and stronger health systems — so every test developed can be delivered and used where it matters most.

Global pandemic preparedness is becoming “increasingly fragile” as funding cuts, geopolitical risk, & weak R&D pipelines erode the world’s ability to respond fast to new threats, a new IPPS report warns.
