Spoiler alert - the buyer will not be someone you trust. Like Sei foundation and many others, we also begun to explore acquiring 23andMe. But this bid is going to disappear into deep and corner-cutting pockets. It’s out of the hands of anyone whose mere aim is to enable high quality biomedical research.

To be fair 4chan, Reddit, YouTube, etc would’ve had to have been built on top of Story - but the idea is that a next wave of social media / content creation apps will be. I’d love to see Reddit or a Reddit-like on Story. Content creators can do exactly what they’ve already been doing except have the option to get paid / credited if they’re part of something that goes viral / commercial

This anonymous 2019 post on 4chan's paranormal board spawned "The Backrooms" - a massive collaborative horror fiction exercise which went on to inspire AppleTV+'s Severance and a Youtube series that was optioned by A24 for an upcoming film adaptation.

To this day, the originator and original sub-creators have never been identified or come forward. Severance's creator acknowledged in a Reddit AMA that he would've been open to crediting the original creators if there was a way to do so.

If Story had existed at the time, they could've returned to a wallet with licensing residuals in it, or at least have a fast track to a WGA writing credit to start their screenwriting careers.

Would be a really cool experiment to retroactively bring the Backrooms community or a community like it onto Story network so they can all get their credit and have a springboard to launching creative careers. They probably went on to enter the matrix and grind in less fulfilling jobs.

@fdvci Yes. A key benefit of blockchain is pseudonymity. They could’ve exposed only an anonymous wallet address to get paid while shrouding the rest of their identity. Story isn’t built on a blockchain to get exposure to crypto. Blockchain is just the right technology for this use case
