If you’re poor, weak, and desperately in need of the resources to change your life…

You’re an asset.

To individuals, to businesses, to firms and organizations.

You are exactly what they’re looking for.

Not because they genuinely want to make your life better.

No.

Because desperation is profitable.

Everyone seeks enrichment. And the poor are their pawn.

The poorer you are, the easier you are to replace, the easier you are to underpay.

The less you know your worth, the more valuable you become to those who don’t want to pay it.

That is one of the reasons the rich keep getting richer while the poor keep getting poorer.

Have you noticed how the highly placed in society often recruit thugs and riff-raffs for their dirty jobs?

The next election is near, who will they use? The poor and hungry, who do not know their worth.

Have you noticed how some “big oga” would rather keep you small, so you keep saying, “yes Sir,” from beneath the cave?

Have you noticed how some schools hire O’Level graduates to teach, even when there are qualified professionals?

Why?

Because they’re not prepared to pay a master’s degree holder for work they believe can be done with “peanuts.”

Dear small minds, the world is looking for you.

Not to build you.

To use you.

Businesses, firms, and organizations are constantly searching for people who don’t yet know their worth, because that helps them cut costs.

So by all means, be the f00l.

Take the job.

Take the contract.

Take the opportunity.

You need them.

Your salary may never become your ladder.

But the relationships you build…

The experience you gain…

The skills you develop…

Those can take you much farther.

Then one day, you’ll grow.

When that day comes, recognize it.

You may have to let go of some relationships you built during your “trenches” days.

Some people from your past will still expect the old version of you.

They’ll still want to “use” you.

By all means…

Shock them.

Show them your growth.

Smear their faces with it.

Not with your words.

With your actions.

You were once a solo plumber, moving from one job to another, hoping the next day’s meal was guaranteed.

People could smell the desperation.

Some took advantage of it.

They negotiated aggressively because they knew you couldn’t afford to walk away.

Then life changed.

You broke through.

Built your own facility.

Employed more hands.

Now an old client reaches out…

Still expecting yesterday’s price.

Shock them.

You were an asset to them even in your poverty.

But they treated you like a liability.

This isn’t revenge.

It’s recognition.

It’s the price of growth.

Be kind.

Be cheerful.

Be welcoming.

After all, they were part of your journey.

But be firm.

Be unapologetic.

Because people will always be more comfortable with the smaller version of you.

Don’t stay there.

Grow up.
