She was rejected again and again because of her disability, so she built her own company and created opportunities for others who had been overlooked.

After employers told her she was not a “good fit,” Collette Divitto, a woman with Down syndrome, founded Collettey’s Cookies in Boston.

Her signature cinnamon chocolate chip recipe, known as “The Amazing Cookie,” went viral in 2016 and transformed her small business into a national success.

Since then, Collettey’s Cookies has sold more than 400,000 cookies, generated over $1.2 million in revenue, and hired 15 employees, many of whom also have disabilities.

But Collette’s mission goes far beyond baking. She created Collettey’s Leadership Org to provide mentoring and job training, and she has spoken before Congress about inclusion and fair employment opportunities.

The companies that rejected her saw a disability. Collette saw a future, then built one for herself and others.
