Last week Deputy Consul General Kate Hall was delighted to attend the award ceremony of the "Botschafter Bayerns" (Ambassador of Bavaria) programme, where three students from Bavarian schools were awarded scholarships to live and attend school in Ireland for the next school year.
This year the scholarships were received by students who will travel to Brazil, China, Czechia, France, Hungary, Ireland, India, Poland and South Africa.
DCG Hall joined members of the fireside panel in sharing her experience of living in Germany and spoke about the work of an Irish diplomat abroad as well as the role of a Consulate General. It was also a great opportunity hear insights from Irish companies operating in Ba-Wü.
On Monday, Deputy Consul General Hall was delighted to participate in a panel discussion at IBN Stuttgart’s event “Connecting the Community – Summer Talks”.
“Connecting the Community – Summer Talks” brought together members of the Irish community from Stuttgart and from across Baden-Württemberg for an evening of discussion and exchange.
To mark Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, we asked people from every Member State to say an Irish phrase that captures who we are, in their own language.
Ní neart go cur le chéile. Strength with unity.
One phrase. One Europe.
Minister @HMcEntee will today launch Ireland’s newly designed Irish passport.
Rooted in Ireland’s landscapes, heritage and culture, the new design reflects the story of our island while incorporating next-generation security features to protect Irish citizens around the world.
We were delighted to be joined on our historical tour by Sandra Perzul, Mayor of Marktgemeinde Dießen, to which Riederau now belongs. Many thanks to Carmen Jacobs for her assistance coordinating the day, as well as to Riederau local historian, Stefan Widler, for his insight.
Earlier this week Consul General O’Shea and Public Diplomacy Officer Tara Baynes visited Landsberg am Lech to view a plaque commemorating Roger Casement’s stay in Riederau on the Ammersee during the summer of 1915.

We were also delighted to be joined on the day by Alex Dorow, member of the Bavarian state parliament for the area, who has family connections to Ireland. Later that day we travelled to Riederau to learn more about the place where Casement lived.
Yesterday Consul General O’Shea and Public Diplomacy Officer Tara Baynes visited Künzelsau in Landkreis Hohenlohe. The Landkreis (similar to an Irish county) of Hohenlohe has been twinned with Co. Limerick since May 1990. The twinning with Limerick is Hohenlohe’s most active one!
This twinning holds particular significance this year - during Ireland’s upcoming EU Presidency from 1 July, each Irish county will be “paired” with a specific Member State of the EU for the period of the Presidency, and Germany has been paired with Limerick!
Irish writing features prominently on bookshelves all over the world.
This year we celebrate Bloomsday & Beyond with booksellers who explain why writing from Ireland, the island of writers, resonates so strongly with their readers.
On 1 July, Ireland takes over the Presidency of the Council of the EU for the 8th time.
In an uncertain world, our strength is reinforced when we stand together.
In Ireland, the seanfhocal or proverb “Ní neart go cur le chéile” reminds us that we have “Strength with unity”.
