The Inland Revenue Service Officers Association (IRSOA) strongly objects to the proposal of appointing retired officers to Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunals, replacing experienced IRS officers with over 20 years of tax expertise. (1/3)

We firmly believe that tribunals should consist of IRS officers as Accountant Members to maintain specialized knowledge and competence, consistent with best practices in other services. (2/3)

Furthermore, IRSOA condemns the hiring of external auditors from personally preferred firms, citing potential conflicts of interest and biased decision-making. This practice undermines the integrity of the appellate process.(3/3)

FBR is determined to achieve target of Rs. 12.9 trillion for the next FY 2024-25. It is direly needed to address the challenges being faced by FBR to strengthen this institution for making another history.

FBR’s working HR is the lowest as compared to most digitized nations like UK & Japan where HR ranges from 40,000 to 50,000. Similarly, 110 FBR tax offices exist for the population of 240 million whereas there are 100 tax offices in Tokyo only and 550 in Japan.

FBR field formations are far below the living wages and are tasked to collect revenue of trillions. As per International best practices, the expenditure on tax authority ranges from 1.5% to 2.5% of the revenue achieved, whereas it is 0.43% only in case of FBR.

Officers of Inland Revenue Service convey their commiseration to the members of bereaved families of Late Mr. Maqsood Jahangir (24th CTP IRS) and Late Mr. Abdul Sattar Essani (35th CTP PAS) who have lost their lives to a fire incident. They were shining stars of civil service.

Late Mr. Maqsood Jahangir’s body was laid to rest on Friday 29th July, 2022 at his ancestral village Kalasin Hameed, Basirpur, District Okara. Mr. Ahmad Shahab, Chief Commissioner, RTO Sahiwal along with Commissioners and Officers/Officials attended the funeral.
