Today, activists from Derry RSYM cleaned the laneway behind Creggan shops at the request of the local community.

This laneway is a vital access route from the estate to the shops, used daily by both young and elderly residents. It had been littered with broken glass, rubbish, and even bags of dog waste.

The IRSP remains committed to supporting working-class communities and will continue to assist in any way possible.

In recent nights, the Southway and Rathkeele areas have become hotspots for attempted break-ins. We urge residents to ensure all doors and windows are securely locked and to reach out to the IRSP in Derry with any concerns.

On this day 1981

Bobby Sands commenced his Hunger Strike in Long Kesh, triggering the 1981 Hunger Strike by IRSP/INLA and IRA Political Prisoners.

They gave their lives to end the criminalisation of Republican prisoners and to restore political status.

Criminalisation continues to this day.

We recently carried out a leaflet drop to inform residents about a rise in house break-ins in the Crumlin area, ensuring everyone is aware and can take precautions. These crimes are not just attacks on individual homes but on the entire community, spreading fear and insecurity where people should feel safe. We strongly condemn those responsible for these selfish and destructive acts, which show complete disregard for their neighbors. A strong, united community will not tolerate such behavior, and we encourage everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to your local Irsp representative.
