IRV FAQ: If your candidate is still viable, your vote will count for your favorite candidate in the runoff round. If your candidate has been eliminated, just as in a traditional runoff election, your vote automatically counts for whichever continuing candidate you prefer.

IRV FAQ:
Courts in various jurisdictions have ruled that instant runoff elections fully comply with the principle of "one person, one vote" & give equal weight to each voter.
How can IRV impact an election? In 1992, most of Ross Perot's voters likely would have ranked HW Bush second, so HW Bush would likely have won over Bill Clinton, hence an IRV win for the Republicans.
IRV benefits for local/municipal elections:
1) Rewards candidates who appeal to a broad base of voters.
2) Reduces the incentive for candidates to attack their opponents.
3) Promotes more civil, issue-oriented campaigns.
4) Fosters coalition-building & discovering shared goals.
Did you know Texas is nearly ready to implement instant runoff elections?
According to the RCV Voting Resource Center, 84% of Texas voting systems are IRV-capable, covering 97% of registered voters.
The infrastructure is in place. Let's do this!
