Comparing players by using only facts is the least factual thing you can do
Data exists in a vacuum, in space.
Analysis takes that data, adds a level of subjectiveness in a systematic, unbiased, consistent approach, and brings it down to Earth
I’d be a lot more confident about the 49ers winning on Sunday if either Robert Saleh or DeMeco Ryans were still their DC. Lock of the century is Pacheco over 67.5 rushing yards.
in wild card gms involving home dogs since 2002, the pick per @pfref's SRS is 14-6 SU (70%) & 14-5-1 ATS (73%), which are both higher than their overall wild card pick results (63% SU; 57% ATS). esp crushing since 2012. this week, SRS's picks are CLE SU, HOU ATS, TB SU & ATS.
Sneaky important factor in this result was McDaniel deferring. You’re running shanahan’s offense. You literally never won a game in SF when down in the 4th quarter for a reason. Take the ball and try to get a lead.
@ScottFeldman …not to mention half their starting D was out, including both of their best pass rushers and one of their top CBs. You have to know you’re going to be giving up points.
@ScottFeldman all the more reason to try to get a lead and then show your chops as a run game coordinator, which is what he was in SF. as a MIA resident, this was the first team in my lifetime to actually be built for conditions like this.
@thepressboxpod I’d like to cash in my plaudits to convey I was gobsmacked @DavidShoemaker didn’t make the obvious Kevin Dunn/Norby Williamson comparison. Both are/were central figures in many internecine battles as administrative bulwarks against the Wild Wild West of talent.
