• Focus: Evaluating the effectiveness and safety of large-bore mechanical thrombectomy in PE patients.
• Method: 257 patients with intermediate/high-risk PE underwent FlowTriever thrombectomy.
• Aim: To assess changes in mean pulmonary artery pressure (MPAP) and analyze associated mortality rates.
📊 Key Results:
• Age: Mean 62 years, 51% male.
• PE Risk Classification: High (14%), Intermediate-High (78%), Intermediate-Low (7%).
• Technical Success: 100%.
• MPAP Reduction: Average decrease from 32±9mmHg to 24±9mmHg (P<0.0001).
• Immediate Complications: Occurred in 2% of patients.
• Mortality: 30-day post-procedure (2%), overall PE-attributable (6%).
🌟 Insights:
• Lower extremity DVT and higher pre-thrombectomy MPAP associated with less decrease in MPAP.
• Post-thrombectomy MPAPs > 20mmHg may indicate higher mortality risk in high-risk patients.
🔗 Conclusion: Large-Bore Aspiration Thrombectomy shows promise as a safe, effective treatment for reducing PAP in intermediate/high-risk PE patients.
