The last crystal boss =/= the last boss related to the shadow crystals. In Ch5 we GET the last crystal. We probably won't be able to fuse it until chapter 6, and that will probably have an associated fight too (Seam's my best guess) and I have zero doubt that there will be a chapter 7 fight to actually use the weapon you did all that for against.
I do not understand anyone who thinks this questline completely ends in chapter 5. You get the last crystal this chapter yes. but then you have to DO SOMETHING WITH THEM.
@VVEEDVVIZARD24 to be entirely fair, 4:19 is a fairly quick blitz through midgar for a casual playthru. But even if you linger and talk to every NPC and steal every item etc, it's still maybe MAYBE 8-10 hours of content. Remake definitely padded the hell out of it.
And also, like, can we just be normal and make reasonable exceptions without thinking it disproves the general thesis?
You know someone with a disability so severe they actually cannot do inputs on a video game, yet in that state still do everything they *can* to engage with it? Sure, yeah, honorary fan, good for them.
Not actually relevant to first-world able-bodied weirdos on twitter this discourse is actually about.
I think the game fan discourse can be solved by just adjusting our terminology slightly.
I actually do think we should completely allow those who just watch game footage and read wikis to call themselves 'fans' of that game.
In fact, I want to *give* that word to these people. Completely. That's now what a 'fan' of something is, someone who only has a second-hand aesthetic relationship to the media.
The rest of us are now 'enjoyers'. You're welcome, I have solved the discourse.
IDK about most games because I don't play most games. But for UT/DR? Yes. You HAVE to PLAY the games to 'get' the games. Why? Because it is YOU deciding every battle whether you have the patience to spare them.
It is YOU choosing actively, after knowing they are innocent, to keep murdering them for the genocide route.
It is YOU the game is talking to, and YOU the game is in dialogue with.
There is ONE line directed at stream/walkthru watchers, and it is DERISIVE.
'The Player' is such an active and important character in both narratives it is actually functionally insane to say that watching playthrus is identical in quality to actual play in terms of absorbing what either is trying to say.
The FYP algorithm has finally found what's guaranteed to enrage me. Three days of """people""" arguing over onion and cheese sandwiches. Three days of people saying you don't need to play games to be fans of them. There are fewer than one million ensouled beings on this planet
@gubbyaster 1. Perfectionist Pacifist, all eggs, all Starwalker meetings, etc.
2. Perfectionist Violent/Weird
3. 'with nothing' route. Sleep thru everything, do the bare minimum, ignore all optional npcs and cutscenes.
Just to see how the game reacts to the most disengaged player possible
What kills Rudy Knight for me was the way the Knight was moving at the end of Ch 4. Everything previous *could* have been hand-waved with 'thats just how he is in Dark Worlds' somehow.
But nah, Knight's out-sprinting two teenagers while carrying a cop on their back in base reality.
Not Rudy.
I'm putting my bets on Toby staying in games, but as a Composer, not designer, for a good part of his post-DT career.
Not saying he never ever makes another game of his own, but that he WILL do the OSTs for games that aren't his as a large chunk of his middle-age career.
Do you think Toby will stop making video games after Deltaruneโs finished? And if you think he wonโt stop do you think his future projects will have something to do with Undertale/Deltarune?
