A well-informed source at Pakistan's General Headquarters (GHQ) claims that Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir instructed Defence Minister Khawaja Asif to step down from his position.

According to the source, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly objected to the move. However, despite the prime minister's opposition, General Asim Munir reportedly delivered a final warning to Khawaja Asif to relinquish his office.
